What SaySoTalker is

Real communication

Tap pictures to speak words and build sentences. When the communicator presses a button, they are being understood, not scored.

Yours to personalize

Add your own pictures and the people, places, and things in your child's life. A stable core of everyday words stays put so they are easy to learn.

Made to grow

Show as much or as little as your child is ready for. Hide words and reveal them later; nothing ever moves, so learned words stay right where they were.

Private by design

No account, no ads, no tracking. Your board stays on your device unless you turn on optional sync, which copies your board words and settings (never your photos) using a private code.

See it, this is the real Talker

Tap around, it speaks. What you try here stays here; the installed app keeps its own setup.

Install it like an app

First, tap Open the Talker. Then follow your device below. Once installed, it opens full-screen from its own icon, like a dedicated communication device, and works without Wi-Fi.

iPhone / iPad (Safari)

Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow), scroll down, and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Android (Chrome)

Tap the ⋮ menu and choose Install app (on some phones it says Add to Home screen). Inside the Talker’s grown-up settings, an Install button also appears when your browser supports it.

Computer / Chromebook (Chrome or Edge)

Click the small install icon at the right end of the address bar (a screen with a down arrow), or the browser menu → Install SaySoTalker.

You can also just use it in the browser, no install required.

iPhone/iPad tip: the installed icon keeps its own separate setup from Safari. Install first, then set up your board inside the installed app, or move a board in with a backup file from Grown-up settings.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No price, no ads, no account, no locked features. It was built by a parent for families like ours.

Does it need Wi-Fi?

Only the first visit. After that it works offline, including installed on a tablet with no connection.

Where is my child's data?

By default, everything stays on your device: your board, the words on your buttons, your photos, and your settings. Backups are files you save and keep yourself. If you turn on the optional sync feature, it copies your board setup (layout, the words you type on buttons, chosen symbols, and settings) to your other devices under a private code. Sync never uploads your photos. Because you choose the words on your buttons, a label can include a name or other detail, so whatever you type is part of what syncs. Anyone with your private code can see or replace the synced setup, so keep it private.

Is sync a backup?

No. Sync is an optional convenience for sharing your board setup (including the words you type on buttons) across your own devices, using a private code. It never uploads photos. It is free and best-effort, and may be slow, unavailable, or discontinued at any time. Your saved backup file is the reliable way to keep and restore a board.

Can our speech-language pathologist use it with us?

Absolutely. You can add the exact words your SLP recommends, hide the rest, and grow the board as your child grows. If a talker will be your child's main way to communicate, an SLP is the right partner for building the long-term system.

Found a problem, or have an idea?

Please tell us. See Feedback & requests, or email hello@saysokids.com directly. SaySoTalker is free and built by one parent, so replies can take time, but every message is read, and requests genuinely shape what gets built next.

A note for families

SaySoTalker is a real, free way to communicate, built by a parent. It works for children, teens, and adults alike. If a talker will be someone’s main way to communicate, a speech-language pathologist can help build the right long-term system. SaySoTalker is designed to work alongside that, and to be genuinely useful on its own.
